Squeeze In

MY PAINTING IS a foray into liquid territory, with depths, shallows, and overlapping orders. I attempt to catch the process of change in some of Darwin's "endless forms," and the way in which complex structures come from simple beginnings. The painting is a snapshot of that moment in which the flux of jumbling and crowded shapes has been temporarily arrested. Nature's accretions and interruptions are here contained by the organizing principle that is the canvas edge. The paintings reflect what I imagine to be nature's seemingly random and yet marvelously structured principles.
